ColourPop “Going Coconuts” Collection | First Impression Review & Swatches

I really try to stay mindful about my makeup purchases and remember that I don’t “need” any of these new releases. Whenever I saw this new Going Coconuts Collection from ColourPop… I threw caution to the wind and purchased every single item! If you’ve followed my blog for awhile, you know that I tend to wear really natural, brown toned eyeshadows and nude lipsticks. This collection included a very wearable 9 pan eyeshadow palette with all neutral shades, 3 super shock shadows in all bronze tones, 2 bronzers, and 4 sheer lipsticks that are all natural flushes of color. It was a no brainer that I picked this entire set of products up on the day it launched! I also added their Lippie Balm and Scrub, and their Coconut Face Milk to my cart too! I needed to get the whole tropical vibes experience. I have only used these products for 2 days in a row, so this is definitely a “First Impression Review,” but with the holidays quickly approaching, I wanted to show you guys what I loved and what I liked from this ColourPop Coconut Collection for you to gift, or for you to treat yourself with!

Going Coconuts Palette | $12 |

Whenever I first saw this palette, it actually stood out to me as being different from anything I’ve owned. Hear me out, it has a really good mix of cool tones and a few bright, shimmering shades that have silver and rose gold undertones. There isn’t anything that’s overly warm or golden, which I actually found refreshing from all the recent orange and red-tones palettes I’ve seen released. Not only is this super wearable for daily looks, but I think this would be a stunning special occasion palette. You could create the most beautiful wedding day, glam look using these shades! I love that the packaging is a hard plastic, as opposed to cardboard and it has a mirror inside. This is an ideal travel palette for me! The only con that I notice is that the metallic shades are crumbly, so you need to barely tap your finger into the pan to prevent them from smashing and breaking off into little pieces! I made the mistake of going full speed ahead into “Palm Reader” and had to gently pat it back into place after almost ruining it!

Shredded – satin matte cream

Palm Reader – metallic icy silver

Coolada – cool toned brown with gray undertones

Lovely Bunch – warm light brown

Coco Crush – metallic rose gold

Shell Yeah – satin matte terracotta

Get Crackin – cool toned dark brown with silver glitter

Da Coco – metallic taupe brown with silver and gold shimmer

Nutty – matte cool toned dark brown

Call Me On My Shellphone Super Shock Shadow Trio

The ColourPop Super Shock Shadows are one of my favorite formulas! They’re a cream-to-powder finish and have a bouncy texture when you touch them. I always use my finger to apply these. I think you get maximum color payoff by patting them into your eyelid, rather than swiping with a brush. These shimmer shades are super pigmented and foiled on the kids! They catch the light so beautifully and I guarantee you will have people complimenting your eyeshadow when you use one these! You can buy these separately for $6, or all three in a trio for $15. I used the shade descriptions from the ColourPop website for the rest of the items in this collection because I think they’re pretty accurate and I’m terrible at trying to describe these things! 😂

Peekaboo | $6 | “metallic ivory with silver glitter”

A Little Quarky | $6 | “peachy gold with blue & silver glitter”

Deep Dive | $6 | “bronze with purple and gold glitter”

Just a Tint Lip

Okay, where has this lip product been my entire life?! Girls, this is such a comfortable, hydrating lip crayon that perfectly tints your lips with a natural hue and a lip balm finish! These are definitely not high pigment, full coverage lippies, but they will give you a healthy looking hydration and sheer wash of color in an instant! I love the crayon-like shape of these because you can so easily line your lips and fill them in using one product. I have a feeling I’m going to be using these a ton in the next few months!

Island Time | $7 | “a sheer pinky nude”

Shaka | $7 | “a sheer yellow toned nude”

Waikiki | $7 | “a sheer cool toned pink”

Nude Beach | $7 | “a sheer mahogany”

Bronzer

These are my first pressed bronzers from ColourPop and I was definitely not disappointed! I purchased both shades because I usually mix my bronzers anyway and wanted to check for consistency in the formula. So the bad news is, these are SUPER dusty, like I barely pressed my bronzer brush into the pan and had major kick-up and fallout. These kind of made a mess on my vanity and I didn’t like that at all… However, once applied, these are such a pretty, sheer-to-medium powder! They build up beautifully on the skin and gave such a natural bronze flush to my cheeks. If you’re light to medium skin tone, I think you’ll really love “Coconut Beach” and if you’re medium to dark, then “Talk to the Palm” will be your best friend. These are the very pigmented and you just need to barely tap your brush into the pan to get full color payoff. Just be careful with how powdery they are! I would recommend using a fluffy bronzer brush, rather than a densely packed contour brush because the bristles will be more whispy and light, allowing you to not disrupt this extremely, finely milled bronzer!

Coconut Beach | $8 | “a neutral golden bronze”

Talk to the Palm | $8 | “a neutral matte warm bronze”

Coco Loco Kit

This kit seemed like such a good set for this time of year! I have a serious phobia about dry, cracking lips and I do everything in my power to keep them looking hydrated and smooth at all times! These items are sold separately, or you can purchase them both in a kit! I think the set would make such a perfect stocking stuffer for any age girl in your life!

Coco Loco Lippie Balm | $6 | “Clear Balm”

I love the squeeze tube of this lippie balm! These are so much more sanitary than the pots of balm that you constantly have to put your finger in. This formula contains shea butter, vitamin e, coconut and macadamia oil. This smells like a tropical paradise and gives such a shiny finish to my lips!

Coco Loco Lippie Scrub | $6 | “Clear Scrub”

I love how gentle this lippie scrub is! I can tell that it’s exfoliating dead skin off, but it still feels like it’s hydrating my lips at the same time. This is made with raw sugar, shea butter, cupuacu butter, sweet almond oil, and jojoba oil. I try to exfoliate my lips at least twice a week to make sure that they look smooth and fresh!

FOURTH RAY BEAUTY

Coconut Face Milk | $14 |

If you didn’t know already, ColourPop has a sister company called Fourth Ray Beauty, which primarily develops natural skincare products. They’re known for their face milks and setting sprays! This Coconut Face Milk is of course, formulated with Coconut Milk and Coconut Oil, but it’s also has Marshmallow Root, and Aloe for additional skin nourishment. I applied 2-3 drops of this on my bare face, before makeup application and let it sink in for about a minute. I felt like it kept my skin looking hydrated and set nicely underneath my makeup. I don’t think it replaces my use for a primer, but I liked it for a moisturizing first step to my makeup routine!

As you have read, I really loved this “Going Coconuts” makeup collection by ColourPop. I felt like it all looked so gorgeous once applied to the face and inspired me to create more looks. I think you can go natural or bold with this palette and the super shock shadows will add such a gorgeous, glossy layer of sparkle on top! If you only get one, I would say “A Little Quarky” was the most unique! The lip tints were another standout product because they felt so good and looked beautiful on my lips! I didn’t think they lasted for a long time, but I honestly didn’t expect them to! They’re a sheer, lightweight formula and sometimes you can’t have your cake and eat it too! On an every day basis, I don’t mind reapplying every other hour if I love the color and love the way it feels on my lips. My absolute favorite shade out of the bunch was “Shaka”! Have you been loving ColourPop’s weekly new releases? I actually enjoy seeing the new collections and look forward to their announcements, but I know some people feel like the brand is not as “exclusive” if they’re always promoting new things. If this a brand you really love, then please let me know, because I really love reviewing their things and their price point is wonderful! I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend. Only a few more days until Thanksgiving, yay! Thank you so much for reading!

Favorite ColourPop Lip Products!

I think it’s safe-to-say that ColourPop is blowing up! Not only are they sold on their website and Sephora, but as of today, they are now being sold at Ulta! They are one of my favorite affordable makeup brands because the quality is SO good. Everything that I have ever tried is so pigmented and beautiful! The two lip formulas that I love most are the Ultra Satin and Ultra Glossy Lips. I wanted to show you my favorite shades if you were thinking of purchasing something from one of their three retailers!

Ultra Satin Lips

These are described on ColourPop’s website as, “High pigmentation and a satin-matte finish in liquid lipstick form to keep your lips soft and comfy all day long.” I would definitely agree that they have a comfortable, satin finish that lasts for 4-5 hours, which is very impressive for me! The only downside is that because they aren’t completely matte, they can transfer if you apply too much or skip lip liner. I prefer this formula over their Ultra Matte Lips because these don’t settle into lines or overly dry out the lips. I would highly recommend these to anyone who enjoys the precision of applying a liquid lipstick, but wants more of a hydrating feeling in the formula! There are so many beautiful colors to choose from and at only $6.50, you can afford to buy more than one!

Rever

This is about to be my most worn shade of Summer 2018! It is an orange-red shade that is super vibrant and neon on the lips. I was a bit nervous for this color, just because it isn’t the most wearable, but it surprisingly looks really normal on! I am so excited to pair it with a bronze shadow and peach blush during the warmer months!

Magic Wand

I love this light, pink nude for my every day makeup routine! This is the only lipstick that has the print completely worn off of the packaging! I find that it goes with everything, whether I am doing something natural or more dramatic. I can always trust that it is going to look good! I can pull this off without a lip liner when I am my natural, medium skin tone, but whenever I am self-tanned, I do need to line my lips with a pencil 2-3 shades darker for definition!

Calypso

Remember when everyone wanted the iconic “Kylie Jenner” mauve lip color? This is the closest I have ever come to finding that insanely popular hue. It is described as a mid-tone pink, but I would also add that it has violet undertones. Depending on your skin tone, I could see it pulling either purple or pink; either way, it is going to be stunning!

Frick N’ Frack

This is such a beautiful rosy, plum color! Maybe it’s just me, but there’s something about the tone of this lipstick that makes my brown eyes stand out! This is one of my favorite “date night” shades because it instantly makes my entire makeup appear more dramatic!

Dreamy

I am going to have this peachy pink shade on repeat all Spring! This is such a fresh, bright color that is very wearable. Sometimes I stray away from pink lip colors because they can look a little unnatural and stark on my olive skin tone, but there is enough warmth from the peachiness within the shade, that it looks really pretty! I do pair this with a nude lip liner underneath to give my lips additional definition!

Ultra Glossy Lips

I am so picky with my lip gloss formulas and at only $6 a piece, these are some of the best I have found within an affordable price range! You cannot beat the pigmentation, silky texture and on-trend shades! ColourPop describes these as, “High shine gloss with just a hint of colour in a moisturizing and non-sticky, comfortable formula.” I completely agree! I have tried both the cream and glitter finish colors and they’re all so beautiful!

Fairy Floss

I love wearing this pale nude gloss over a lip liner to give my lips a really full and hydrated appearance! It is pretty sheer, but it is extremely shiny, with no stickiness! If you like clear glosses, then I would definitely pick this one up to wear over your favorite lip liner!

Finders Keepers

This is my favorite mauve lip gloss ever! I think the color is so stunning on my medium skin tone! It is so creamy and gives such a healthy, shiny look to my lips! I think I am going to wear this all the time in the Spring months for a fresh makeup look!

Moon Child

This is the only ColourPop gloss that I own with glitter in the formula and it is SO good! You cannot feel any of the sparkles (one of my biggest pet peeves) and the formula is so silky! It is a beautiful nude pink, with finely-milled gold glitter throughout! I have worn this over light and dark lipstick shades and it goes with everything!

Thank you so much for reading this post! I am definitely going to get back into my routine of posting weekly. I miss writing so much and I have so many exciting ideas to share with you! ColourPop “You Had Me At Hello” Pressed Powder Eyeshadow Palette! Review and Swatches!

I have been a huge fan of all things ColourPop Cosmetics since they first launched their online store! Their Super Shock Shadows and Ultra Satin Lips are some of my holy grail makeup items! In the past year, I’ve seen the brand grow tremendously by expanding the variety of products they sell. They were also recently picked up by Sephora, so you can shop select items on Sephora.com and I’m pretty sure you can also buy the same items in store! The largest collection of products is definitely on their main website, which is where I purchased the Eyeshadow Palette that I am reviewing in this post! The “You Had Me At Hello” Pressed Powder Eyeshadow Palette is a bronze, mauve and plum toned beauty! If you have brown eyes, this is going to be your best friend! This is an awesome value, you get 12 eyeshadows for $18! This palette also comes with a mirror, which makes it perfect for traveling! Now let’s break down each shade in the palette!

  • The Knot – A pearly, champagne metallic shadow with rose gold and silver shimmer. I really love this for an inner corner shade to brighten and widen my eyes!
  • Moon Struck – This is my favorite all-over-the-lid shade! I love wearing warm gold colors with my skin tone on a daily basis. This one is a true light gold with a soft gold shimmer throughout!
  • Two Peas – A warm brown transitional shade that is super matte and creamy! This one has a peachy undertone, which is very complimentary to the gold and purple shades in the palette!
  • Candygram – Another one of my favorites in the palette, I know I’ll be getting a lot of wear out of this one! This is a pink with metallic gold shimmer!
  • Winning Ticket – A matte dusty rose color. I love this for blending out the crease! This would also be a gorgeous color to put on your lid with a flat shader brush, then blend out with a fluffy brush for a super easy, monochromatic eye look!
  • FBO – I’m a bad beauty blogger and completely forgot to swatch this shade on my arm! This is a very metallic, pinky plum shade with silver shimmer! It’s super beautiful, I’m so sorry I forgot to swatch this!
  • Look See – A matte plum with a cranberry undertone. I was really impressed with the even pigmentation of this shade! I think this is going to be so pretty blended on my outer crease and lower lash line!
  • Fool’s Rush – This is a bronze color with gold shimmer throughout! This is probably the shade I’ll use most often! I love these types of shades to compliment my brown eyes!
  • Pulling Strings – I love warm matte browns for crease colors and this one is so creamy and evenly pigmented!
  • Want U Back – A cool toned, matte brown with a mauve undertone! I’m really glad they put this one in the palette because it will easily tie in the gold colors and purple shades for a cohesive eyeshadow look!
  • DTR – I typically don’t purchase these shades, so I’m really happy I have one included in this palette to get me out of my comfort zone! It’s a gray, taupe color with silver shimmer. It has a slight lavender shift, which gives it a unique twist!
  • Sparks Fly – This was the only shade in the palette that looked a little patchy! I haven’t used it on the eyes, so take this with a grain of salt! Sometimes swatches can be super deceiving, but I did want to point that out! It is a dark brown matte color that has a plum undertone. This will make a great liner shade to give the eyes soft definition.

My final thoughts on this palette is that it’s awesome and I would highly recommend it to anyone that loves these types of shades! It actually feels like better quality than some of my more expensive, luxury brand eyeshadow palettes! The shimmer shades are metallic and the mattes are very creamy and evenly pigmented! I also love that it comes with a mirror as well! The packaging is super compact and I can definitely see myself traveling with this palette and not needing to bring any other shades to create a complete look. Do you own any of the ColourPop Pressed Eyeshadow Palettes? Do you prefer them over the Super Shock single eyeshadows? Leave me a comment below! Happy December to everyone and I hope you have a great week! Thank you so much for reading!

Top 5 Makeup Products Under $10 for Summer| Collab With Beckoning Beauty!

I am so excited to be sharing my first collaboration blog post with you! I teamed up with my sweet blogger friend, Becca or @BeckoningBeauty to show you my top 5 favorite drugstore makeup products for summer and they’re all under 10 dollars! Check out her post here to read her top 5 picks! She was one of the first subscribers I ever had and I have followed her from the beginning of her blog too! Her posts are so fun to read and she writes incredibly well. She has an amazing, aesthetically pleasing Instagram too; I highly recommend you check her out and follow her there as well @Beckoning.Beauty . I hope you enjoy reading about our favorite affordable makeup products to use during the summer!

Wet N Wild PhotoFocus Foundation, “Golden Beige” – $5.99

Run, don’t walk for this new foundation. I cannot believe that this six dollar foundation is better than my higher-end products! I was immediately impressed at how seamlessly it blends into the skin, plus it has awesome medium coverage, which I love for the summer. It isn’t heavy or overly matte, but it maintains its coverage and only lets a minimal amount of shine come through. I have dry-to-normal skin and it works so well for me. I love the way this foundation looks in photos too, it gives you such a flawless finish without looking cakey and yay for no flashback! My favorite way to apply this product is with a damp beauty blender. I have tried it with a brush and it looks great with that too, but my preference is to use the beauty blender and give it a slightly dewy finish! The shade “Golden Beige” matches me perfectly, not too yellow or too pink! I cannot say enough great things about this foundation and I am so happy I decided to try it out!

NYC Smooth Skin Bronzer, “Sunny” – $3.62

The NYC “Smooth Skin” bronzer in the shade “Sunny” will turn you into a glowing summer goddess! The color of this bronzer is definitely warm, but somehow it doesn’t look orange or artificial on the skin. It blends out to a natural bronze shade with a mostly matte finish. There are some shimmers when you look at the product in the pan, but they blend away once you apply it to your face! I’m always super impressed with how evenly it buffs into the skin. If you are looking for a great bronzer from the drugstore to give you a sun kissed glow, I would highly recommend you try this one, you won’t be disappointed!

ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter, “Wisp” – $8

This is the best highlight that I have found for under $10 so far! If you are looking for a creamy, pigmented and basically blinding highlight, well look no further. ColourPop’s Super Shock Highlighter’s are one-of-a-kind and stand out in my entire makeup collection as some of the best on the market. This product will give you that “wet look” highlight, without accentuating any pores or texture. I love this product as an eye shadow as well! The shade “Wisp” is super complimentary for medium-to-deep skin tones since it is more of a golden-champagne glow. I also love the shades “Spoon” and “Lunch Money” and for only 8 bucks, you might as well try a couple out!

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip, “Naked Ladies” – $6.00

So unfortunately this exact shade is discontinued because it was limited-edition, but I am sharing this product because of the formula! In the summertime, I want to wear matte lip products to help prevent annoying transferring or bleeding, however the dry weather can turn a regular liquid lipstick into an actual painful experience. These “Ultra Satin” formulas are creamy with a satin finish, but they are super pigmented and hardly transfer throughout their long wear time. These are highly pigmented, I would definitely describe them as bold lipsticks, but just with some added moisture! The most comparable shade that they have available is named “Cozy” and it is described on their website as an orange-red, which is perfect for warm weather!

Milani Everyday Eyes Eyeshadow Palette, “Earthy Elements” – $8.97

Finding really good eyeshadow palettes from the drugstore can be a daunting task. I have noticed that it’s even more difficult to find really great matte shades within those palettes. I haven’t tried very many Milani eye products, so I was happily surprised at how great these turned out to be! I love the warm orange shades in this palette to create a bronze, smokey eye in the summertime! The matte colors in this palette are so creamy and pigmented, I couldn’t believe this product was under $10 because it definitely feels and performs more high-end than that price point. I would highly recommend these if you are looking for good matte eyeshadows from the drugstore. There are other neutral and more bold sets available as well, so I am sure you can find exactly what you are looking for to suit your preferences best! The “Earthy Elements” palette can give you the prettiest warm eyeshadow look, plus I think the colors look like a sunset, which of course reminds me of summer nights!

Thank you so much for reading my blog post tonight on my top 5 drugstore products under $10! I love wearing high-end makeup, but there is something so satisfying about finding that affordable hidden gem! I also want to thank the talented and supportive Becca, @BeckoningBeauty for collaborating with me on this post. She is such a sweetheart and I would love for you to read her post too! We both want to know the affordable makeup products that you are loving, so please leave me a comment below! Thank you again for reading!

October Beauty Favorites!

Fall favorites are the best favorites! During the month of October, I have been in love with warm bronze tones. I’ve been wearing my makeup pretty much the same for every occasion, changing up my lip color to suit day or night. I’ve been focusing on flawless skin with bronze and copper eyeshadow shades and a glowy, warm-toned blush. I always try to include high-end and affordable options because on a daily basis, I’m typically wearing a combination of both! I also usually mention fashion favorites in these posts, but I’m actually going to do a separate blog on that because I have a lot for the month of October and didn’t want to make this one too lengthy! I hope you enjoy reading about the beauty products I’ve been loving this month and please let me know if we have any favorites in common, or what new products you think I should try out!

Nars Dual-Intensity, “Himalia”

These eyeshadows are pricey, but they’re absolutely gorgeous! They are pigmented on their own, but can also be used with a wet brush for an intense, foiled effect. The shade “Himalia” is a neutral, bronzey-taupe color that has champagne sparkles throughout it. Once applied to the lid, it has a unique violet undertone, which makes it especially beautiful! This is an easy color to wear all over your lid and blend into the crease for a quick makeup look that appears to have taken a lot of effort! Another reason I love this particular eyeshadow is because it’s so long lasting and it will not fade throughout the day! I really want to try other colors, but at $29 each…I’m pacing myself!

M.A.C Glitter Pigment, “Reflects Bronze”

I have a few of these miniature M.A.C pigments and I never seem to make a dent in them! I love the shade “Reflects Bronze” because it’s very sparkly, but it’s also somewhat wearable since it’s a gold shade that seems to compliment any look! I find myself loving this on natural eye looks, just as much as I love it with a dramatic smokey eye! I find that the copper glitter in this pigment compliment my brown eye color too! Since this is a loose glitter, I recommend using a mixing medium of some kind to make it easy to apply and decrease the amount of fallout. My favorites are M.A.C Fix Plus and Too Faced glitter glue!

Benefit Ka-Brow! Cream-Gel Eyebrow Color, “03 Medium”

This is my new favorite brow product ever! I’ve been using this every single day and I love it so much! It is a very natural color, which sometimes is harder to find than one would think! A lot of brunette brow products are too ashy or too red-toned, but this one is the perfect, as-natural-as-you-can-get-when-filling-in-your-entire-brow color! It will not fade or transfer, but comes off pretty easily with makeup remover or warm, soapy water! I feel like this product has decreased the amount of eyebrow hair loss too…which might sound crazy, but I’m pretty sure using a pencil for years has damaged the natural hairs in my brows. Another pro to this product is the convenient, travel friendly packaging! There is a perfectly sized, angled brush in the lid of the product, what a bonus!

Tarteist Clay Paint Liner, “Bronze”

If you’re looking for a softer alternative to classic black eyeliner, then you need to try out this gorgeous brown shade from Tarte! I love using gel eyeliner on my upper lash line, since I usually wing it out on the daily. This one lasts so long and will not budge after you apply it! The shade “Bronze” is a chocolate brown color with a slight shimmer, making it subtle, with a fun twist!

ColourPop Lippie Stix, “Oh Snap”

I can’t get enough of these ColourPop Lippie Stix and at only $5 each, you can afford to get every color you love! The shade “Oh Snap” is that super, on-trend, mauve color that everyone is wearing! This color isn’t too off from my natural lip shade, making it a really easy product to just apply without being too precise! These Lippie Stix are super creamy and pigmented, but also very long lasting, which sounds like the perfect formula to me!

ColourPop Super Shock Cheek, “Avalon”

Can’t stop and won’t stop raving about ColourPop! If you want to expand your makeup collection on a budget, then you need to go online right now and check out their wide range of products! This bronze, rose gold, highlight color is perfect to use as a blush topper if you’re wanting to give your skin an extra pop of shimmer during the colder months! You can also use this on your eyes to achieve a glossy shadow look, which is super on trend at the moment! I’ve been enjoying this particular shade on and off the last few months, but I cannot put it down during October!

Romantic Mauve Makeup Look

Mauve and blush tones are very on-trend this year and seem to be popping up all over various Instagram makeup accounts. I feel like these rose-toned shadows look super natural, without being the same-old browns and gold tones I usually stick to. This makeup look would pair well with your standard neutral shades, like gray, cream and black, but I think it would look gorgeous with a blush-toned ensemble for a monochromatic, trendy vibe. I used the Naked 3 palette to complete the eye look and I loved the way it turned out. I re-discovered my love for these eye shadows and would highly recommend this palette if you love mauve-toned makeup looks.

  1. I started off by priming my eye lids with my new favorite Wet N’ Wild Eyelid primer and then sweeping the color “Strange” from lash line to brow bone. I love using a matte, light color to set my primer and allow the other shades I place on top blend easier.
  2. Next, I blended “Limit” throughout my crease as a transitional color.
  3. Taking the matte shade, “Nooner,” I deepened my outer crease. I love doing this gradient effect to make my eyes appear larger and more defined.
  4. I used a combination of “Burnout” and “Liar” for my lid shade. I made sure to pack on this color with a flat shader brush to decrease the likelihood of glitter fallout!
  5. I used ColourPop’s “Tassel” on my inner corner to provide an intense highlight effect and further widen the look of my eyes. I loved the pop of sparkle that this step added to the overall look!
  6. Lastly, I lined my upper lash line using the Stila “Stay All Day” felt tip eyeliner pen and used the Tarte “Tartiest” mascara to prep my eyelashes for falsies.

I used the shades “Bubbly” and “Dripping In Gold” from the Anastasia “That Glow” Glow Kit for my highlight! I love the glossy look of this product when applied to my cheekbones, which is rare to find in a powder formula! For the lips, I used ColourPop Ultra-Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade, “Midi,” which is a cool-toned, dusty pink shade that compliments the eyes really well. I would definitely recommend wearing a chapstick or lip primer underneath these lippies because they’re very drying and borderline chalky otherwise! The only aspect of this look that I wasn’t too fond of was the lashes…not only were they extremely uncomfortable, they would not adhere to my natural lash line! They were the Ardell “Double Up” Wispies, but I wanted to mention the Ardell “Demi Wispies Natural” are my favorite lashes and are so light to wear! I tried two different lash glues with the “Double Up” style and neither of them would help this thick band stay in place on my eyes, which resulted in covering the band with lots of gel eyeliner and trying to make it work! They look beautiful when your eyes are open, but unfortunately it is pretty visible and not cute whenever you close them.

Let me know if you enjoy these simple makeup looks and would like for me to do more! I know it would be much easier to film a tutorial from beginning to end, rather than meticulously explain each detail of the process, so let me know if you would be interested in seeing that instead! Thank you so much for reading!

My Favorite Powder Highlight Products!

One of my favorite makeup products is highlight powder! I am always on the hunt to find the latest and greatest and have acquired quite the collection over the past year! I love “strobing” with these powder products because they emphasize the high points of my face, showing off my favorite features. I also love that I look instantly healthier and more alive by adding some extra radiance to my skin. I think highlight powder can take what would otherwise be considered simple makeup and instantly turn it into a Pinterest-worthy look! The tops of my cheekbones, temples, inner-corners of my eye, tip of my nose and cupid’s bow are my favorite places to highlight. I never skip out on this step of my makeup routine and highly encourage you to try out this popular beauty trend! I wanted to share all of my favorites with you so you can find your best match; whether you want a dewy and natural skin look, or an extremely bright and noticeable glow, I think I’ll have you covered!

Subtle Glow

Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder Compact, “Highlight 01 – Golden Nude,” $40.

This product truly stands out in my collection because it provides the most beautifully subtle glow. If you want a natural, effortless highlight, you will absolutely love this product. It gives a reflective sheen once applied, which brings a lifted effect to your face. If you have mature skin, I would highly suggest this one because it isn’t glittery and definitely won’t emphasize any fine lines or texture.

Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duo, “Warm Glow,” $30.

I love the “lit-from-within” glow that this highlight gives my face. Again, it really just provides a radiant looking complexion, rather than an intentional shimmer. My favorite way to apply this product is with a large fluffy brush all over my face, not being specific where I place it. Whenever I do this technique, my skin looks hydrated and gorgeous! I would not recommend this product as a strategic highlight because it doesn’t have enough power in its pigmentation to bring out your cheekbones and other high points of your face. It really works best as an all over dusting powder when you’re finished with your makeup and want to look extra dewy. For me personally, I never apply this product in my t-zone, just because after a couple hours I will look unattractively oily, rather than my desired healthy glow.

Makeup Revolution Pro Illuminate, $7.

I mentioned this product as a highlight to pick up in my drugstore starter kit post because it really gives a universally flattering sheen to anyone’s face. Regardless of age or skin type, I find this product beautifully brings attention to the high points of the face, without looking harsh or glittery. I would best describe the overall look of this product to be glossy, which is unique for a typical powder formulation!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit, “That Glow,” $40.

I am obsessed with the formula of these highlights! They glide on the face so evenly pigmented, so you never have one area that looks shinier than the rest. This kit is super versatile because it not only comes with four different highlight shades, but it also can be intensified with beauty mists, like M.A.C Fix Plus if you want an intense, almost metallic looking effect! They last beautifully for hours and I am always getting compliments whenever I wear these out!

M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinsh, “Soft & Gentle,” $32.

This was one of the first highlight’s I ever owned because I read so many blog posts that recommended it! I was so excited to get it and expected it to be a bright and sparkly highlight, but surprisingly it gave me a super natural, skin-like glow! This product does have shimmers in it, but after blended out, they don’t really show up on your skin. It is a gorgeous champagne color, which is universally brightening on many different skin tones! I enjoy wearing this product on a day-to-day basis because it has the power to compliment any kind of makeup look.

Beaming from the Heavens

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed, “Opal,” $38.
I love Becca highlights because they’re creamy, but also have extremely shimmery color payoff. Sometimes the more glitter that’s in a highlight, the more chalky and patchy they apply. With this product, you can guarantee that your highlight will look gorgeous on the skin. I love the shade Opal because it’s a warm, champagne, neutral color that goes great with any makeup look. I love this color as an eyeshadow as well since it’s such an effortless brightening shade for all over the eyelids and the inner corners of the eye! Another amazing aspect of the Becca highlights are their longevity! I can apply this product at 6am and still have it show up when I get home from work at 6pm! I will definitely continue to buy these highlights because I do think they’re the best on the market!

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed, “Champagne Pop,” $38.

This is my all-time favorite highlight! If you have no idea where to begin with this glowing skin trend, look no further than Champagne Pop! It’s a beautiful peachy-gold shimmer, that brightens and compliments any skin tone! If you’re a fan of peachy or bronze blushes, you will absolutely love this shade to place on the tops of your cheeks! Of course it has the signature Becca creamy formula that is long-wearing and pigmented, so you really can’t go wrong in any aspect!

Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator, “Gilded Honey,” $26.

This would definitely be ranked as my second favorite highlight! The best thing about this product is its brightening power! If you’re looking for a shade that will give lift to your face, than you’ll love the way this formula reflects on the high points you place it. It is also absolutely beautiful in the sunlight. Since it’s a true gold, it does compliment my olive-tan skin tone very well, but I also believe its universally flattering too! This is also one of the few powder highlights I own that layers evenly over cream products, which is an extra bonus!

theBalm Highlight, “Mary-Lou Manizer,” $24.

This was one of the first highlights I ever bought because of its popularity online! I heard so many YouTubers and read so many blog posts about this being the ultimate glowing skin product. It really is amazing! The bright, champagne radiance it brings my skin is so gorgeous and unique! This is a highlight I’ll always have in my collection because it matches any makeup look and is my go-to whenever I want to sparkle from space. This is also an extremely long wearing formula and will last you throughout long days and summer weather!

ColourPop Highlight, “Wisp,” $8. ColourPop Highlight, “Avalon,” $8.

These ColourPop highlights are the best value on the market right now! They are extremely pigmented and have such great color payoff even once you blend them out on your cheeks. With some powder products, the shimmer will fall out once blended, but since these are a unique cream-to-powder consistency, they go own as dewy and evenly pigmented than they look in the pan. I love the shades Wisp and Avalon because they’re different from one another in shade, but both perform exceptionally well. The shade Wisp is a gorgeous golden-champagne color and Avalon is copper shade that acts beautiful as a blush/bronzer topper to give your entire face a shimmery glow! I’m also astounded that these inexpensive highlights last longer than anything else I own! You’ll love these if you’re just starting out and want to build your collection because they’re budget friendly and extremely high quality!

Thank you so much for taking the time to check out my highlight powder collection! I am constantly rotating each of these products into my everyday makeup routine, so they are all being used and well-loved. Although I don’t think you absolutely need every single highlighter I mentioned, I do hope you found a new one to love or discovered some helpful info on the one you’ve been recently eyeing! Happy highlighting!

Festive Fourth of July Makeup!

I wanted to do a quick little blog post on my festive Fourth of July makeup! For me personally, this was a fairly glamorous look since I included glitter and red lipstick, but I think it’s perfect for any daytime event. For me, I think this look is very balanced and subtle enough to not make a bold statement when wearing. I also think you could totally add false eyelashes, darken up the outer crease and use black eyeliner on your waterline to make it more dramatic! I thought this look was very easy to create and fit perfect for the theme of Fourth of July, but also would be great for any other special occasion this summer!

Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Eyeshadow Palette, $36. ColourPop Eyeshadow, $5. M.A.C Pro Longwear Paint Pot, $22. Benefit Roller Lash Mascara, $24. Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Eyeliner, $22. Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner, $20. Revlon ColorStay Lipliner, $8.99. Stila Stay All Day Vinyl Lip Gloss, $24.

I first primed my eyes using the M.A.C Pro Longwear Paint Pot in the shade “Ochre” because it neutralizes all veins on my eyelids and applies a yellow base to compliment the golden shadows that I’ll be placing on top! Next, I took the ColourPop eyeshadow in “KathleenLights” and patted that all over my eyelid. I wanted to choose a darker bronze/orange color for my eyelids since I knew the bright gold glitter that I would later place on top, would stand out more when contrasting from a darker base. To blend out this color, I used a mixture of “Peanut Butter” and “Spread the Love” from my Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Palette! Although this product was limited edition, I still see them at Ulta and would highly recommend this palette to anyone who enjoys warm-toned eyeshadows! I then took the shade “Extra Creamy” underneath my brow bone for an extra highlight. On my inner corner, I used “Bananas” to add a bit of brightness, without being stark white. I then blended out my lower lash line with a mixture of “Peanut Butter” and “Nuts About U” to balance out the eye look.

Next is the fun part; glitter! I love the Urban Decay glitter liners because they don’t sting your eye (as some glitters do) and it lasts for hours without retouching! For added simplicity, the brush tip applicator makes this product ideal for creating a precise glitter winged eyeliner or in my case, “painting” the glitter on top of my eyeshadow. I find this method works best if you apply, keep your eyes closed for 30 seconds to dry and then continue with the rest of your look. I also added some glitter on my lower lash line to compliment the eyelid! Based on personal preference, I did decide to add winged eyeliner because I love the way it compliments my round eye shape, but feel free to just add a standard line or none at all! You can truly make this look as natural as you want! I finished off with a couple coats of Benefit Roller Lash Mascara (which is probably my favorite high-end mascara) on my top and bottom lashes! Again, I think this makeup look would be stunning with wispy, false eyelashes as well!

For the lips, I used my Revlon lip liner in “Nude” to define, while also ensuring that my red lipstick did not bleed or transfer. The red lipstick I chose is actually a lipgloss from Stila’s Stay All Day collection. These glosses are very opaque and thick in consistency. They stay shiny, but will not wear off like standard lip glosses because they are such a thick consistency. This shade is a true blue-based red, which is perfect for Fourth of July! Most of my red lipsticks are matte, but in the summer when my lips are more dry, I opt for satin or glossy formula to hydrate and plump!

I really love how this look turned out because I thought it was fun and festive without being overboard! I think this look provides a great outline for Fourth of July makeup since it’s so simple, which allows you to easily change out certain aspects to fit what you’re most comfortable and confident in wearing! I would love to know how you spent your Fourth of July and what makeup look you decided to go for! Please let me know in the comments below, thank you so much for readying!

How I Make Bold Lip Colors Wearable!

One of my favorite ways to wear makeup in the summertime is a natural eye look with glowing skin and a bright, attention-grabbing lip color. I find that this is the perfect way to wear minimal makeup, but still appear to have taken time and effort to look put together. Keep reading if you want to learn some of my favorite tricks on how to wear a bold lip color, while keeping the rest of your face subtle!

My first tip is to start with even and glowing skin! I like to use a pore-filling primer, full coverage foundation, highlighting concealer and a matte setting powder to provide a great base that will be long lasting. I next go in with a bronzer that matches the undertone of the red lip product that I’m using. For example, in this post I’m wearing a warm-orange toned red liquid lipstick, so I wanted to use a warm bronzer to match! I find that the juxtaposition when using makeup products with clashing warm and cool undertones can look unflattering and throw the entire look off. This also applies to the blush and highlighter I use as well! Again, I opted for a warm toned coral blush and golden highlight to create cohesiveness! Lastly I keep my eye makeup fairly simple by just using a golden, shimmery shadow all over my eyelid, and blending out my crease using the bronzer I used! I also decided on a black winged eyeliner based on just personal preference, but feel free to skip this step and just focus on really building up your lashes!

e.l.f. Lip Exfoliater, $3. M.A.C. Cosmetics Prep + Prime Lip, $16.50 ColourPop Ultra Satin Lips, in the shade Naked Ladies, $6.

Now onto the fun part; the lips! I really love wearing these coral-orange-toned reds in the summertime because they’re bold, yet wearable! I start off with exfoliating my lips and making sure there is no dead skin that could cause gross patchiness with my lipstick. I love using the e.l.f lip exfoliator because it’s only $3 and tastes like brown sugar! The packaging is in a lipstick holder, rather than a pot, making it very convenient for travel. Anytime I use a liquid lipstick or matte lipstick, I use my M.A.C lip primer underneath to provide moisture and increase longevity! I’ve found that when I use this, my lip products wear off more evenly, rather than in noticeable, random sections. Whenever I choose a bright lipstick, I prefer to make sure the formula is matte for a couple of reasons. Typically matte formulas do not transfer to other areas of the face, meaning that if you’re outside and sweating, your lipstick will not start sliding around and transfer to your chin and around your mouth! I love matte liquid lipstick formulas for bold colors because I don’t have to buy matching lip liners every time since these don’t go out of my natural lip line once applied! I also feel like matte formulas are less harsh, so you can be more adventurous with your color selection! Sometimes when a lipstick is also glossy and also sparkley and also bright, it can be a really attention-grabbing statement that isn’t always desirable for daytime wear. Whenever I wear a bold color lipstick that is in a matte finish, I find that it doesn’t overpower my entire look and demand awkward, judgmental staring from strangers. That is just my personal opinion though and what I have found makes me most comfortable on a day-to-day basis with my makeup! I have talked about the ColourPop Ultra Satin liquid lipsticks in other blog posts and I still stand by my initial review of this product being so good! They are extremely comfortable, do not wear off and at a great price point of only $6! They have so many shades online, so you’re bound to find something you love! This shade, “Naked Ladies” is a beautiful coral-red that I got so many compliments on when wearing. I would highly recommend you check it out! Let me know your go-to, summer, bold lip color and your favorite liquid lipstick formulas! Thanks for reading!

Creating A Subtle Look With Colorful Eyeliner

I really wanted to do a post on how I wear colorful eyeliner in the most subtle way. Sometimes I want to go out of my comfort zone with makeup, but personally do not feel very confident when I’m wearing bright, attention grabbing looks on a day-to-day basis. If you are like me and want to experiment with a unique eyeliner color, like blue or purple, but also want to keep the overall makeup look understated, then keep reading!

To start off this makeup look, I begin with my face. I like to make sure that my skin looks as flawless as possible, so my eyes will pop. Of course I use a primer and a full coverage foundation to give myself a smooth, even canvas for my powder products to lay nicely on. I then try to use soft colored blushes and bronzers so my face appears to be the most natural part of my makeup. I find that when you have multiple attention grabbing elements on your face (dark eyeshadow, bright lips, shimmery blushes) you can sometimes overpower the entire look, making it hard to concentrate on your natural features, while appreciating the area you are emphasizing. On my lips, I used a matte, nude liquid lipstick from ColourPop to stay cohesive with the natural vibe I’m going for with this look!

Once you have your face completed, it’s time for the fun part; the eyes! If I’m doing a bold, colorful eyeliner look, I make sure to keep the eyeshadow neutral and understated. I find that this technique makes the eyeliner pop because it stands out when placed on a blank canvas. I usually choose a light, matte eyeshadow color to place all over the lid and blend a neutral tone shade into my crease for slight definition. Next is the fun part! The blue eyeliner I used in this look was in a pencil form so I simply drew a line on my upper eyelid and then a slight wing off of the end. Lastly, I used the mascara routine that I posted about in April, to give my eyes added definition!

Too Faced, Peanut Butter & Jelly Eyeshadow Palette, $36. ColourPop Creme Gel Liner, In the shade: “Prance”, $5.

This colorful eyeliner look really does come across as understated and simple, even though you’re incorporating a unique color into your makeup. Whenever I wore this out, no one even noticed I was wearing blue eyeliner until I pointed it out! Also even though I used blue, I think you could use any color and it would look equally as cool! I think this periwinkle-blue shade is really beautiful for Spring, so that’s why I used it!

Let me know how you like to incorporate bright makeup products into a subtle look! I’m always looking to try out new ways to give my ordinary makeup a unique pop! Thank you so much for reading!
