Soft Spring Makeup Look!

It’s finally Spring and I could not be happier! It’s so refreshing to experience warm weather and I love seeing the sunlight at 6:00 pm! With that said, I’ve been going a little more natural with my makeup just because I want to look really fresh and dewy on a daily basis. I’m sharing an updated everyday makeup routine in case you’re like me and enjoy switching things up based on the seasons! I’m focusing on making my skin as flawless as possible, without looking heavy. Also you can see that I’m choosing natural colors on the eyes, with peach-tones for my blush and lip color!

The first step in this routine is to apply a luminous primer all over my skin to give me a lit-from-within look. My absolute favorite one is the L’Oreal “Magic Lumi” because it evens out my skin tone and gives me a sheer glow, rather than a glittery or oily effect. Next, I apply my foundation and concealer with a damp beauty sponge, I’ve been loving the new pink one by L’Oreal, but feel free to use whatever you have on hand! I have been obsessed with the L’Oreal “Pro Glow” liquid foundation for giving my skin a luminous, natural finish. If you have oily skin, try their “Pro Matte” version, which is another one of my favorites. The Tarte “Shape Tape” concealer is one of my holy grail makeup products and definitely something you should invest in if you have dark circles! This product will not settle into fine lines and it has awesome, full coverage without ever looking heavy. I place my concealer in an upside down triangle underneath my eyes and I blend some additional dots on the center of my forehead and chin, just to even out the brightness. To keep the glowing look of the skin, but also control my oil, I set my entire face with the Too Faced “Primed and Poreless Pressed Powder.” This is an awesome translucent powder to set your makeup, without adding any additional coverage. Be careful not to add too many layers of this product, or you will end up with the unfortunate white flash back if you are using this powder during photography sessions! I also take the yellow shade from the Tarte “Tarteist” contour palette to set my under eyes and give them an extra layer of brightness! My favorite bronzer to use with this kind of look is the the Too Faced “Sweet Hearts Bronzer” in the shade, “Sweet Tea.” It is a neutral bronze color, so not too orange or too ashy. It has a radiant finish, which looks great in natural lighting! I love a super bright and shimmery highlight for this time of the year, so the Tarte highlight in “Stunner” has been my new obsession! This is by far the longest lasting highlight in my collection, it seriously stays on my cheeks for the entire day without fading! I’m so shocked by the pigmentation and blinding effect is gives my face. In the pan, it looks like it would be too dark for my medium skin tone, but once you apply it, you’ll see that it shows up beautifully! For blush, I used my new favorite Mally blush in the color, “Perfect Peach.” I think this is going to be so gorgeous once I have a deep, olive tan this summer. This is also very long lasting, which is an awesome added bonus!

For the eyes, I really want to keep it super simple and as neutral as I can! I love my Too Faced “Natural Matte” palette because it’s so easy to create a simple look from the color selection, it’s a no-brainer makeup item. I set my entire eyelid with the shade, “Heaven” to help my other shadows blend effortlessly. I blend “Honey Butter” into the crease to give subtle dimension. I took “Strapless” just on the outer edge to give the look a little extra drama. I also blended this shade on my lower lash line for cohesiveness! My lid shade is the beautiful ColourPop eyeshadow in the shade, “Lovely” and may I just say, I could wear this color every day and be perfectly happy. It’s super pigmented and gives the eyes just enough sparkle! I did black winged liner, per usual and used my Tarte “Rainforest of the Sea So Fine” liner. Feel free to not do eyeliner, or use a brown color to make the eyes appear more natural. I used one of my new favorite drugstore mascaras, the Maybelline “Lash Sensational” is super nice! It really separates and volumizes like a high-end mascara would! For the lips, I used my brand new Tarte “Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash” lipstick in the shade “Sunkissed,” which is probably my new favorite lipstick color and formula! These are so buttery and long lasting, perfect for spring and summer when your lips naturally feel more dry! I topped that off with all-time favorite nude gloss by Buxom in the shade “White Russian” to match the rest of my dewy makeup look! I didn’t include a photo, but I sprayed my entire face with the Urban Decay “All-Nighter” setting spray to lock my face into place and blend all the products with one another!

Classic Glam Beauty Favorites!

I’m a big supporter of natural, glowing makeup looks, but every now and then I have to go full glam with a smokey eye and/or classic red lips! Over the years, I’ve tried so many different products, some have worked great and I feel very Marilyn Monroe-esk, and unfortunately, others have had a circus clown effect. I wanted to share with you my all-time favorites, especially since these products can often be a hit or miss!

My favorite eye shadow palette to achieve a beautiful, smokey eye look is the Makeup Forever Artist Palette Volume 1 – Nudes! This palette retails for $44, but is an overall value of $136! Makeup Forever eyeshadows are some of the best on the market! I find that they’re super buttery and richly pigmented, plus they last forever on the eyes! The colors in this palette are perfect if you want to create that traditional silver-taupe-black gradient that we often see in classic smokey eyes. I like the versatility that comes with this palette, allowing you to choose a sultry, bronze glam or even a bright-eyed, white and gold look! I highly recommend getting this product if you enjoy the colors shown in my swatches! These eyeshadows are so beautiful and definitely worth the money, especially when you save so much purchasing in palette form!

I love red lipstick, but let’s be real…it is a very high maintenance color to wear. It bleeds, it fades unevenly, you may even face the dreaded ‘transfer onto your teeth’ effect. The following products have great longevity, minimal transfer and come in a variety of finishes, so whether you like glossy or matte lips, I got you covered! My first red lip favorite is the Stila Stay All Day Gloss in, “Scarlet Vinyl.” It is a super shiny, very opaque formula that gives your lips a lacquered look. It’s very moisturizing, so you can rest assured your lips won’t flake off into little red bits. For a lip gloss, this formula is very long lasting and will not fade throughout the night! Continuing with the glossy lips, the NYX Butter glosses are my absolute favorite of all time! I highly recommend these in any color! The shade, “Cherry Pie” is a very sheer, but super pretty whenever you just want a hint of red. I love wearing this product during the day when I can’t commit to the upkeep of a pigmented lip. These glosses are so creamy and feel like a balm on your lips, trust me you’ll want them in every color! The Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in “Fiery” is a very matte, zero shine formula, which is beautiful if you want that retro red lip look. I love this shade in particular because it is more warm-toned, with a hint of orange, which I love for the summertime! This product wears for such a long time and will not transfer! The only downside is that it can feel a bit drying once you remove all your makeup, but try putting a Chapstick or lip primer underneath and you’ll be fine! The Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in “Rose Hip,” which is a vibrant red. These are my favorite matte lip products because they aren’t drying, but also aren’t shiny. These lip crayons have a perfect shape to outline and fill in your lips very precisely, which is important with a bold lip color! I own a few other colors in this range and I would highly recommend if you’re just starting out with makeup, they are fool-proof and come in so many beautiful shades! Lastly, I wanted to mention the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in the color, “Red Square.” These are similar in shape to the Bite Beauty lip crayons, making the application process so ideal for lining the lips and then filling in! These feel creamy at first, but eventually set into a matte finish and become virtually transfer-proof! I always get compliments on this shade and I find it is very wearable because of the slight hint of brown in the formula, making it almost a brick-red color!

I also wanted to recommend some extra products that aren’t absolute must-haves, but they may be solutions to some problems you could be having with red lipstick! The M.A.C and ColourPop lip primers will help prep your lips by filling in fine lines and lightly moisturizing before application! Now that I own these products and love them, I can never wear a liquid lipstick or a matte formula without a primer underneath! These will prevent cracking and uneven fading as well! I also would advise you to line your lips before putting on red lipstick! The thought of lipstick bleeding outside the edges is cringe-worthy to say the least, but by laying down a liner first, you can help seal in those lip lines and guard the product from reaching your chin, upper lip, etc! You can of course line with a red lip liner, but sometimes that can be a little scary because if you mess up…it’s not always the easiest color to blend out! For beginners, try using a regular nude shade until you have mastered the desired shape you want the lip line to be!

Black eyeliners and classic glamorous makeup go hand-in-hand for me! I wanted to mention my favorites since I also use these in my everyday makeup routine as well! The Stila Smudge Stick’s are the best eyeliners to blend out and create a smoldering effect! I have the black one shown in the photo, but I own a lot of the other shades as well and love to blend them on the upper and lower lash lines for a faded, yet defined effect! The Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in the shade, “Trooper,” is a holy-grail makeup product in my collection! If you want to do winged eyeliner and find that your currently felt tip pen isn’t doing you justice, change to this immediately! It’s super precise and very black, plus it’ll last forever! The Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in the shade, “Tuxedo” makes an amazing black base for your eyeshadows to lay on top of! If you really want your deeper, jewel-toned eyeshadows to pop, try layering them with a black eyeshadow base! These Caviar Sticks last so long on the eyelids and will not crease! The Tarte Tarteist Clay Paint Liner is liquid liner goals! This goes on so evenly pigmented and dark, I was so impressed the first time I tried it because I’ve always found other pot or liquid liners to be so dry or overly wet and messy, but this one is absolutely perfect! If you prefer drawing on your winged eyeliner with a brush, I would definitely recommend these Tarteist liners to you!

Thank you for taking the time to read about my classic glam makeup favorites! Don’t feel compelled to wear a bold lip and a bold eye all at the same time, pick and choose different techniques from this post and make them your own! What are some of the products you grab whenever you want to create a timeless or retro makeup look? Let me know in the comments!

Mally Beauty “Effortlessly Airbrushed Blush & Highlighter” Review and Swatches!

As someone that thrives off golden highlighter and warm-toned blush, I about fainted when I saw the new Mally Beauty “Effortlessly Airbrushed Blush & Highlighter” in the shade “Perfect Peach!” For $35, you get a pigmented, beautiful blush and a dimensional, golden highlight shade! I haven’t been this excited over a new makeup product in awhile, so I would highly recommend trying it out! This is my first purchase from Mally Beauty and I am so beyond impressed! There is also a “Pretty Pink” set, if you prefer more mauve, true pink colored blushes and a champagne colored highlight!

The formula of the blush and highlight is so soft and pigmented! The blush is actually very natural looking. You can easily layer it to look more intense or wear it more sheer for a “no-makeup” makeup look! I love this blush shade in, “Perfect Peach” and would totally purchase it in the full-size! I find that I have nothing like it in my current collection. The color is a very true warm, orange-peach color that has the smallest touch of pink. I would describe this product as having a satin-matte finish because it’s not completely flat once applied on the face, but also not shimmery at all. It lasts all day on my face without fading or changing color, which is a major plus!

The highlight is in the shade, “Stardust” and I think it’s easily becoming my most reached for product! I use this whether I’m doing a full-glam or natural makeup look! It gives the very trendy and desired “wet-look” to the tops of my cheek bones. It’s a true gold highlight, but it’s brighter than Laura Geller “Gilded Honey” (my all time fav) or Becca “Champagne Pop.” I love how it doesn’t emphasize any texture on my face since it’s not glittery whatsoever. It also layers on top of cream highlights so perfectly, which is somewhat hard to find in a powder product! Just like the blush, this highlight also lasts for such a long time! I honestly get so many complements whenever I wear this product and everyone is always so surprised when I tell them it’s by Mally!

I would highly recommend this duo to anyone that loves wearing blush and highlight! I think everyone should try this product out because it’s SO good! The quality is there and the price is right, so what do you have to lose?! It does come in two color options, but I have not tried out the “Pretty Pink” set. I’m definitely going to be purchasing to check for consistency in the line! What products do you love by Mally Beauty?! Have you tried out the “Effortlessly Airbrushed Blush & Highlighter” yet? What do you think?! Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading!
