Trying Korean Skincare Products!

Korean skincare is known for being very advanced. From what I’ve researched, their formulations are very innovative and have unique combinations of ingredients. I noticed it’s super popular to add “whitening” elements to their cosmetics, so that is one thing I made sure to steer clear from because I’m trying to hold on to as much tan as possible! Two of the items that I ordered can be found in the United States at ULTA stores, which I love because now Korean brands are becoming more accessible! I placed my entire order on Amazon because I also purchased Korean makeup items, but I’m saving that for another blog post! Keep reading to see me try out three different Korean skincare products!

Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask, $10.25.

I have seen this one all over social media and I’m always so intrigued at the amount of foam it produces! A lot of the descriptions on these items are in Korean, but luckily Amazon does provide a decent breakdown of ingredients, which I find super helpful for my sensitive skin! Amazon translates the claims of this mask as, “Formulated with carbonated water and mud, washes off pores and dirts on your on face. Contains various vegetable ingredients such as green tea, pomegranate and charcoal powder extract etc. Carbonated water gives a soft massage to pores. A adsorptive power of Charcoal and mud removes excessive subum clearly. Clay mud and charcoal powder removes makeup dirts and tightens pores at the same time.”

I know I love charcoal masks and clay mud masks, so I was excited to try one that combined the two! Looking at the product in the container, it appears jelly-like and thick. I used the spatula provided to swipe onto my face until the majority was covered! You do have to work quickly with this mask because it starts foaming up within the first 10-20 seconds! I kept it on for five minutes as instructed and it continued growing until the foam was super fluffy! I then washed the mask off with warm water and it formed into a soft, lotion texture that I could rinse off. This mask is amazing, I instantly saw a difference in my pore size and the overall brightness of my skin. I really loved that my face felt hydrated afterwards and the ingredients didn’t strip the natural moisture of my skin. I would highly recommend this product to everyone! It’s really fun to use because it makes your face look like a round ball of foam, but it also actually works! It was a little under $11, which is very affordable in comparison to some of my other facial masks that I try out. I’m definitely going to continue to apply this product regularly and I’m excited to see the results from prolonged usage!

Tony Moly “I’m Real” Sheet Masks (Pack of 11), $15.38.

I have been using these Tony Moly sheet masks for awhile and love the “Avocado Nutrition” and “Aloe Moisturizing” versions! I think it’s great how affordable these are, especially on Amazon where you can get a variety pack of 11 for only $15!? To put it in perspective, a single Tony Moly sheet mask at Ulta retails for $3.75! This product definitely gives me Silence of the Lambs vibes when it’s on my face, but it really is so quick and easy to take out of the package and have all the skincare ingredients saturated on a comfortable, cotton sheet! I used the “Lemon Brightening” mask in this post and after 25 minutes of being on my skin, I did notice my face looked noticeably more hydrated and glowing, giving the appearance of a brighter complexion!

Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Eye Patch, $6.50.

As someone who has the darkest of circles, I was super excited to try out these adorable panda eye patches! These are supposed to brighten and hydrate the sensitive under-eye area. I also read reviews that these can de-puff and plump up the fine lines underneath your eyes, giving a more youthful appearance! When you use these, you definitely have to keep your eye shut because the cotton isn’t cut in a way that you can comfortably keep them open.

They definitely deliver on their short-term claims, which are to de-puff and hydrate, but I didn’t notice any intense brightening! Again, my dark circles are super intense and I’ve struggled finding eye creams that will even slightly help, so it’s not out of the ordinary that these patches didn’t correct that problem area immediately! I would recommend them because they’re super cute, they didn’t cause me any weird reaction and they hydrated my under eyes. Plus, it’s a great excuse to lay down for 20 minutes with your eyes closed and just relax!

What Korean skincare products do you swear by?! I had so much fun reviewing these products and was so pleasantly surprised by how well they worked on my sensitive skin! Let me know if you would like to see another post on me trying out some popular Korean makeup items as well! Thank you for reading!

Top 5 Makeup Products Under $10 for Summer| Collab With Beckoning Beauty!

I am so excited to be sharing my first collaboration blog post with you! I teamed up with my sweet blogger friend, Becca or @BeckoningBeauty to show you my top 5 favorite drugstore makeup products for summer and they’re all under 10 dollars! Check out her post here to read her top 5 picks! She was one of the first subscribers I ever had and I have followed her from the beginning of her blog too! Her posts are so fun to read and she writes incredibly well. She has an amazing, aesthetically pleasing Instagram too; I highly recommend you check her out and follow her there as well @Beckoning.Beauty . I hope you enjoy reading about our favorite affordable makeup products to use during the summer!

Wet N Wild PhotoFocus Foundation, “Golden Beige” – $5.99

Run, don’t walk for this new foundation. I cannot believe that this six dollar foundation is better than my higher-end products! I was immediately impressed at how seamlessly it blends into the skin, plus it has awesome medium coverage, which I love for the summer. It isn’t heavy or overly matte, but it maintains its coverage and only lets a minimal amount of shine come through. I have dry-to-normal skin and it works so well for me. I love the way this foundation looks in photos too, it gives you such a flawless finish without looking cakey and yay for no flashback! My favorite way to apply this product is with a damp beauty blender. I have tried it with a brush and it looks great with that too, but my preference is to use the beauty blender and give it a slightly dewy finish! The shade “Golden Beige” matches me perfectly, not too yellow or too pink! I cannot say enough great things about this foundation and I am so happy I decided to try it out!

NYC Smooth Skin Bronzer, “Sunny” – $3.62

The NYC “Smooth Skin” bronzer in the shade “Sunny” will turn you into a glowing summer goddess! The color of this bronzer is definitely warm, but somehow it doesn’t look orange or artificial on the skin. It blends out to a natural bronze shade with a mostly matte finish. There are some shimmers when you look at the product in the pan, but they blend away once you apply it to your face! I’m always super impressed with how evenly it buffs into the skin. If you are looking for a great bronzer from the drugstore to give you a sun kissed glow, I would highly recommend you try this one, you won’t be disappointed!

ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter, “Wisp” – $8

This is the best highlight that I have found for under $10 so far! If you are looking for a creamy, pigmented and basically blinding highlight, well look no further. ColourPop’s Super Shock Highlighter’s are one-of-a-kind and stand out in my entire makeup collection as some of the best on the market. This product will give you that “wet look” highlight, without accentuating any pores or texture. I love this product as an eye shadow as well! The shade “Wisp” is super complimentary for medium-to-deep skin tones since it is more of a golden-champagne glow. I also love the shades “Spoon” and “Lunch Money” and for only 8 bucks, you might as well try a couple out!

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip, “Naked Ladies” – $6.00

So unfortunately this exact shade is discontinued because it was limited-edition, but I am sharing this product because of the formula! In the summertime, I want to wear matte lip products to help prevent annoying transferring or bleeding, however the dry weather can turn a regular liquid lipstick into an actual painful experience. These “Ultra Satin” formulas are creamy with a satin finish, but they are super pigmented and hardly transfer throughout their long wear time. These are highly pigmented, I would definitely describe them as bold lipsticks, but just with some added moisture! The most comparable shade that they have available is named “Cozy” and it is described on their website as an orange-red, which is perfect for warm weather!

Milani Everyday Eyes Eyeshadow Palette, “Earthy Elements” – $8.97

Finding really good eyeshadow palettes from the drugstore can be a daunting task. I have noticed that it’s even more difficult to find really great matte shades within those palettes. I haven’t tried very many Milani eye products, so I was happily surprised at how great these turned out to be! I love the warm orange shades in this palette to create a bronze, smokey eye in the summertime! The matte colors in this palette are so creamy and pigmented, I couldn’t believe this product was under $10 because it definitely feels and performs more high-end than that price point. I would highly recommend these if you are looking for good matte eyeshadows from the drugstore. There are other neutral and more bold sets available as well, so I am sure you can find exactly what you are looking for to suit your preferences best! The “Earthy Elements” palette can give you the prettiest warm eyeshadow look, plus I think the colors look like a sunset, which of course reminds me of summer nights!

Thank you so much for reading my blog post tonight on my top 5 drugstore products under $10! I love wearing high-end makeup, but there is something so satisfying about finding that affordable hidden gem! I also want to thank the talented and supportive Becca, @BeckoningBeauty for collaborating with me on this post. She is such a sweetheart and I would love for you to read her post too! Unicorn Makeup Look!

Unicorn makeup is definitely a thing right now, so I decided to do a little look on my interpretation of the trend! I purchased the Tarte “Make Believe in Yourself: Eye & Cheek Palette” because it has really gorgeous neutrals, as well as fun pops of color! It’s an awesome deal too, 10 eyeshadows, plus a highlight for only 40 bucks! Tarte released this palette as a part of their new collection of other Unicorn-themed makeup items!

I typically steer clear from purple and blue eyeshadows, but I was drawn to these shades in particular because they’re surprisingly wearable. I wanted to create a look that was definitely colorful, but not intensely shocking on the eyes.

  1. I primed my eyes using the Urban Decay Primer Potion in the shade “Eden” and set my entire eye lid with my translucent setting powder for a smooth and even canvas. Next, I blended the only matte shade in the palette “Myth” into my crease. I pressed this color onto my outer corners as well for added dimension.
  2. I took the shade “Mystic” on a flat shader brush and applied it to the inner corners of my eye. This icy blue color is super bright and beautiful!
  3. For my all-over lid shade, I patted “Trance” using my finger tips. This is a pretty lavender color that has a lot of silver and taupe shimmer. I found that applying with my finger gave this color maximum color payoff.
  4. I used the darker purple in the palette, “Fairy” to shade in my outer corners! I do wish I had a darker matte shade in this palette to use for this step. It’s just my personal preference to not use so many shimmery colors in the crease, but I surprisingly liked how this color worked out!
  5. I wanted to do something a little different than my usual black winged eyeliner, so I opted for a navy blue gel liner by Tarte! I think this just helped the look stay super cohesive since it’s all in the same color family. I also applied my Tarte “Tarteist” Lash Paint Mascara, I love that stuff so much!
  6. I used the turquoise color in the palette called, “Dream” to define my lower lash line! I also blended “Mystic” over top of that to give it a softer appearance. I also used a pastel blue eyeliner by ColourPop in my waterline to make the whole look pop!

What are your thoughts on the Unicorn makeup trend? I actually really liked the way this look turned out! It’s fun and different, but it’s also wearable since I kept the rest of my makeup super neutral. The eyeshadows in this palette are actually really pigmented and super buttery, which means they are going to be applied best with your finger! I noticed some glittery fall out when I was trying to blend out a couple of the shades, but that’s super common with sparkle eyeshadows so it was to be expected! Next time I’ll just use extra setting powder underneath my eyes to wipe away the fallen shadow!

Let me know if you would like to see a look where I use this palette to create a super natural look! I think it would be fun to compare the warm, neutral shades in the palette and see if they are equally as magical when applied to the eyes! Thank you so much for reading this post!
