Nighttime Pamper Routine!

I have always wanted to be the type of girl that could make time for fun things like spa days and massages. However, the older I get, the harder it is to prioritize my schedule to include something that’s only meant to make me feel spoiled and special. Whenever I’m feeling stressed or overwhelmed, I like to have an at-home pamper night! I try my hardest to turn my mind off and unwind, while using products that make me feel like I’m in a fancy spa!

My first step in my pamper routine is to take a hot bath! This is essential because too often I just shower super quickly and forget to even take the time to unwind in a jacuzzi bath. I love using LUSH Bath Bombs because they smell amazing and make your water look really pretty! This one is the, “Butterbear” Bath Bomb and it smells incredible, just like cocoa powder! Next, I like to exfoliate my body with a sugar scrub! I love using the Tree Hut “Sugar Shea Scrub” from head-to-toe! It’s gentle enough to not irritate my sensitive skin, however it will remove all dead skin and any remaining self tanner that hasn’t faded off naturally! After I’ve shampooed and conditioned my hair, I like to apply a hair mask to give extra moisture and help repair any dry/damaged strands! Recently, I’ve been obsessed with the OUAI “Treatment Mask.” I just apply it on my clean, damp hair and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. My hair feels like absolute silk when I’m finished with it! Lastly, once I’m finished with the bath and completely dried off, I like to apply the Shea Moisture “100% Extra Virgin Coconut Oil” all over my body, like I would a regular lotion. I feel like I’ve seen a difference in my skin since I switched over to coconut oil from body creams! Not only does it feel more hydrated and healthy, but I’ve noticed it’s not as itchy and irritated, which would happen all the time after using artificially scented body butters. I definitely can’t use this product as a hair mask because it’s way too heavy and I look like a greased chicken the next day, but it makes an awesome all over the body moisturizer!

Now that I have clean skin and I’m feeling super relaxed, it’s time for a face mask! My favorite one to apply is the award winning Fresh “Rose Face Mask” because it not only hydrates, but it also tones! I feel like it’s so hard to find a mask that does both! It’s all-natural and smells like fresh roses! Sometimes I feel like doing something fun and different so I’ll grab a sheet mask instead! I love the Tony Moly line of sheet masks because there is such variety available for all the different skin types out there! Plus, the packaging is absolutely adorable! After I’ve left my face mask on for about 20-30 minutes, I rinse that off and immediately apply my nightly skincare! I’ve been using my favorite Origins “High Potency Night-A-Mins” moisturizer for years and it is SO GOOD! I recommend this product to everyone, dry skin, combo, or oily skin; you just need it! I also always apply an eye cream, recently I’ve been loving the Tarte “Maracuja C-Brighter Eye Treatment” because it’s incredibly hydrating and helps plump up the skin where I have fine lines! Now that I’m finished with my face, it’s time to treat my feet! If you are in need of a super hydrating and luxurious lotion for an at-home pedicure, then you must try the L’Occitane Foot Cream! It is incredible the difference that this makes, especially on my heels! I’ve been a fan of the hand cream for awhile now, but this product is a game changer! Of course, I can’t forget about my lips and every single night I apply Aquaphor to keep them moisturized! It doesn’t have a scent, which I love and I always wake up with hydrated lippies that are ready for lipstick application!

Hopefully this post gave you some good ideas on the types of products to try out if you’re wanting to pamper yourself! I think it’s so important to take a break from all the craziness that happens in our every day lives and unwind! If you have products that relax you, please comment them on this post! I hope you have a wonderful week and I appreciate you taking the time to read!

Magnetic Face Mask?!

I recently received the Dr. Brandt MAGNETIGHT Age-Defier Mask as a Sephora free sample and knew I had to document trying it out for the blog! It is described as, “a powerful age-defying facial mask that dramatically transforms the look of your skin by harnessing the power of attraction.” Yes, you read that right, this is a magnetic mask. The formula is created with iron, which helps reduce the signs of stressed, aging skin! It’s good for individuals that suffer from wrinkles/fine lines, elasticity, firmness and uneven texture. Plus, it comes with a triangle magnet that supposedly lifts the mask right off your skin, leaving behind a skin softening oil that has additional skincare ingredients.

To start this process, I washed my face with soap and water and removed all of my makeup! Then I took the spatula that comes with the mask and spread a thin layer over my clean face, trying to avoid the eye area. As you can see, it doesn’t apply very evenly, but that doesn’t bother me too much! I left it on for about 10 minutes because that was the recommended time!

Next I took the magnet and wrapped it with a tissue as instructed! It is a surprisingly strong magnet, it’s even advised to not use it if you have a pacemaker or other medical devices/implants! So I smoothed it over my skin and was in shock at how instantly it lifted the mask off my face! It made a clean line of removal and did not smear or move around. I was so impressed with this process, I rushed over the rest of my face, waiting for it to not work, but it removed the entire thing all on the same magnet!

Once I was finished taking it off, I realized that it left an oily feeling on my face! Reading the directions, it said that you are supposed to massage the remainder in and use it as a skin treatment! So I decided to do that and continued with the rest of my nighttime skincare routine. Overall, I really liked using this mask! I think the process is so much fun and really easy to do! I definitely didn’t see immediate, extremely noticeable results, but that isn’t a total deal breaker for me! My skin felt hydrated and my pores looked smaller, I just didn’t see a huge difference as far as fine lines, but perhaps that happens over time! This is a pretty expensive mask, $75 for the full size, so I’m not sure if I would purchase that, just because I’m not wowed by this product just yet! It was super enjoyable and cool to see, so I would recommend getting your hands on a sample size if you can! Thanks for reading!

First Aid Beauty 5 in 1 Bouncy Mask!

I’m a sucker for trying new skincare products, especially masks! When I first checked out the “First Aid Beauty 5 in 1 Bouncy Mask” on Sephora’s website, it seemed too good to be true! Not only is this product formulated for sensitive skin, which I have, but it also has no parabens, sulfates or phthalates! Yay! It claims to give the same results as a facial, perfecting the overall appearance of the skin, but in one simple mask application for only 10 minutes! You get 1.7 oz. of product for $38.00, which may seem expensive for a face mask, but when you weigh the cost of getting facials and using other skincare products to achieve the same results, you will see that all of those extra treatments can add up quickly! I think this is a pretty good value for what it’s claiming to do!

First Aid Beauty 5 in 1 Bouncy Mask 1.7 oz $38.00

This mask is aimed at correcting uneven skin tone, dullness and enlarged pores, while also making the skin more firm. It is gentle enough to be used three times a week, or whenever you feel that your skin is looking tired and in need of a pick-me-up. There are many natural products in this formula, including rose bud extract and Vitamin C, which will plump and hydrate the skin. The most impressive claim for me was this mask’s ability to calm, nourish and refine uneven texture, which I do have on certain areas of my face.

As I first opened this product, I immediately noticed a strong cucumber smell. So if you don’t like that, you’ll probably want to stay far away from this mask. The texture is exactly as the name states; “bouncy.” It is super sticky when getting it out of the jar and has a syrup-like consistency (weird comparison, I know!) Once applied to the face, it just looks like a completely clear, shiny layer of moisturizer. I actually kind of liked this because I didn’t feel crazy walking around my house, like I do with my black and green colored masks. It says to wait 10 minutes until taking it off with warm water, but I decided to leave it on for 15-20 minutes.

Mask applied to the back of my hand

Once I rinsed it off, I noticed my skin looked brighter and more hydrated. I didn’t even feel like I needed to put on my nightly moisturizer! Safe to say, I was very impressed. It also calmed some of the redness I have around my nose and chin area. Since I had such great results, I continued using it throughout the week, waiting a couple days in between uses! I noticed that over time, this mask did begin to shrink the pores on my cheeks and give me a much brighter complexion! I don’t know how much of a firming effect this product has, but I do know that the plumping/hydrating aspect makes the fine lines around my eye-area seem softer and not as pronounced.

It’s always amazing whenever you find a product that actually works! I was so relieved that my money was well spent on this mask, as it’s one of the more expensive ones I’ve ever purchased! I love First Aid Beauty as a brand and use many of their other skincare products on a daily basis! Let me know if you would like to see a review on some of these other items as well! If you are looking for a good, “facial-in-a-jar” type of mask, then I would highly recommend this one! It’s worth it because it actually gives you the results it claims to offer, plus you only need a small amount to cover your entire face, so I can see this lasting for a long time! I want to know what skincare products you are currently loving so please leave me a comment below! Thank you so much for reading!

Nighttime Skin Care Routine

Clarisonic Mia 2 Skin Cleansing System, $149. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Wash, $25. Origins Original Skin Renewal Serum with Willowherb, $39. Origins Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Mega-Bright Dark Circle Minimizer, $42. Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins Mineral-Enriched Renewal Cream, $43. It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream Transforming Moisturizing Super Cream, $48. SEPHORA COLLECTION Mud Mask Purifying & Mattifying, $20.

Here is my nighttime skin care routine that I have been using for the last few months! I feel like I can see a noticeable difference in the way my skin looks and feels. Some of my personal problem areas are enlarged pores, uneven texture, dullness and dark spots. So far, I have noticed a significant decrease in my uneven texture and dark spots. I am so thankful that they have started to disappear because now I feel confident even when I am not wearing foundation! I accredit a lot of my skin’s improvement to my Clarisonic. I started using it in July of 2014 and was immediately blown away by the results. My texture has improved significantly and I believe the exfoliating properties have brightened the overall tone of my skin. Whenever I stop using my Clarisonic, I instantly notice my skin looking dull and patchy. I fully believe that the improvements I’ve noticed over time are because of this device. If you only invest in one skin care item from this post, I would highly recommend purchasing the Clarisonic because it has changed my skin completely and is the reason I no longer suffer from cystic acne breakouts. All of these products mostly stay the same throughout the year, but I do switch up certain products based on the season, since sometimes I suffer from oily skin in the Summer months! This is the current routine that I have been using for the past four months and truly believe my skin has never looked better!

Clarisonic Mia 2 Skin Cleansing System, $149. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Wash, $25.

I always shower at night, so I begin my nighttime routine with washing my face! I rinse my face a few times with just water to break down the majority of my makeup. Next, I place the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Wash onto my face and gently work the product into a slightly foamy texture. I then make sure my Clarisonic brush head is wet to begin cleansing! If you don’t know already, this device washes your skin through sonic pulses that feel like vibrations on your face! This is supposed to cleanse on a deeper level and resurface the appearance of your natural skin.

It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream Transforming Moisturizing Super Cream, $48. Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins Mineral-Enriched Renewal Cream, $43. Origins Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Mega-Bright Dark Circle Minimizer, $42.

After I cleanse my face and have completely dry skin, I begin to moisturize! For whatever reason, the second I get out of the shower, the skin on my face dries so tight! It’s borderline painful how dry my skin feels after cleansing, so I have to use a moisturizing cream in order to hydrate and plump my skin back up to normal. Right now, my absolute favorite mouisturizer is the It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream Transforming Moisturizing Super Cream! I feel like this is really different from other night creams because its intensely hydrating without feeling greasy! Your skin will look noticeably more youthful because it gives so much added moisture to your face! I love taking this product down my neck and décolletage to make sure that skin does not wrinkle or look aged! I think this night cream would be amazing for skin of any age. I also think you would love this if you have a skin type of combination to dry. If you have oily skin, I do think you may find it to be too heavy and thick! However, if you do suffer from oily skin, I have a great nighttime moisturizer for you too! A major misconception among those with oily skin is that they should not use a night cream because their skin produces so much moisture already. This is false! Whenever you have an oily skin type, it typically is derived from your skin not recieving enough moisture, so your glands produce excess to make up for the amount its missing! My best suggestion would be to use an oil-free night cream formula that is non-comodegenic (will not clog pores) so you are recieving just the right amount of hydration. My favorite oil free moisturizer is by Origins. The also comes in a form that is not oil free, so make sure you read the packaging closely. I have fallen in love with both formulas and truly believe they deliver on every claim they make.

Now for eye cream! Okay so this is an area I may need help in… As you may know, dark circles are a major problem area for me. Not a day goes ny where I dont need concealer. It is that bad. So of course I am trying to find a holy grail dark circle diminishing eye cream! The one I am using right now is really nice, but I’m not sure if it’s actually working. I love the fact that it’s non-greasy and hydrates my under-eye area, however I have not noticed a difference in lightening my dark circle area. So I wanted to show you what I am using, however it is not a product I am wow-ed by or want to recommend. So if you have an eye cream that you love and think would work for me, please let me know!

Origins Original Skin Renewal Serum with Willowherb, $39. SEPHORA COLLECTION Mud Mask Purifying & Mattifying, $20.

I love these two products to use every 2-3 days! The first is a serum that is all natural and fixes the texture on your skin. Any small bumps or dry patches are diminished by placing this product over your night cream. I’ve also seen this product make a significant difference in the size of my pores! I love that this product works perfectly in conjunction with the rest of my skincare products and compliments my skin type perfectly. The mask from Sephora is supposed to be a dupe for the Glam Glow Super Mud Mask! I definitely do think these two are comparable! It’s a zinc and copper mud mask that unclogs pores and fades the appearance of blemishes. I personally don’t use this product all over my face and prefer to do a spot treatment application on any bumps or acne I feel that’s coming on! It is a miracle worker and dries up any blemish in one night! It also fades the look of acne scarring, which is really helpful if you have sensitive skin like me and find a lot of fading products break you out!
Thank you so much for reading this post! I wanted to mention that all of the products I use are Paraben-free! If you have any really great, all-natural skincare favorites, please let me know! I really am in desperate need of a new dark circle diminishing eye cream, so help me out! 😂 Also I really want to do a morning skin care routine, so leave me a comment if you would me interested in that too!
