Pumpkin Spice Makeup Tutorial!

I wanted to do a look using the Jaclyn Hill Morphe palette for Fall! I get a lot of comments and messages asking to do a look using the shades in this palette because so many people own it and love it! The hype is real, I’m obsessed with mine and use it on a daily basis. It has the perfect array of neutrals and bright colors.

Warm-toned smokey eyes are my favorite to create because they give your eyes definition, without being too intense. There is something about combining these matte shades of brown, orange, red, and yellow that translates as “more natural” than the traditional silver and black smokey eyes. I would personally wear this eye look during the daytime, but I think it would look great for nighttime too! You could even go extra glam by adding some gold glitter onto the center of the lid, falsies and a more intense winged eyeliner!

  1. I always start off by priming my eyelids with the Urban Decay Primer Potion in “Eden” to cancel out any redness and conceal veins. This will also prevent your eyeshadow from creasing throughout the day and allow the shades to appear more vibrant. I apply a light amount of translucent setting powder over the lids to help the shadows we place on top to blend easier!
  2. I always use a matte, light brown eyeshadow in my crease. Even when I’m rushing, I will still blend a little of my bronzer to lightly define the shape of my eyes. I applied “Silk Creme” in windshield wiping motions with a fluffy blending brush. With the same brush, I buffed “Butter” right underneath to add a layer of dimension.
  3. I took the color “Pukey” on a more precise blending brush and concentrated the color on my outer V. I made sure to blend it into the two other shades in my crease, but tried to focus it mainly on my outer corner to create a cat eye effect.
  4. “Hunts” is one of my favorite shades in this entire palette! On a tapered blending brush, I brought this color on the outer third of my eye.
  5. I used “Creamsicle” as my lid shade! I was so afraid of using a true yellow color on my eyes, but I think this one is actually super wearable and flattering! Taking a flat shader brush, I pressed this color on the inner third of my eye and lightly blended it with a clean, fluffy brush into the middle section for a seamless transition into “Hunts.”
  6. On a detailed blending brush, I patted “Jacz” on the outer edge in a V shape. I made sure to keep this darker color lower on the eyelid and didn’t bring it up too much into the crease.
  7. I drew my standard winged eyeliner and then decided that the look wasn’t as dramatic as I liked, so I took “Chip” on a precise angled brush and patted it on the outer edge, layering it close to the winged eyeliner. I took another clean blending brush and lightly buffed it into the rest of my outer crease colors.
  8. I just used some regular mascara for my lashes, but I think this would’ve looked amazing with falsies! My favorite are the Ardell Demi-Wispies Natural and I love the House of Lashes glue!
  9. On my lower lash line, I blended “Pukey” and “Jacz” and added “Chip” only on the outer edge for a gradient, eye-opening effect.

I circled the shades I used in the palette, just in case you didn’t know them by name and accidentally threw away the plastic insert that labeled them!

The additional makeup products I used on the rest of my face!

Anddddd that’s it! So easy right?! I really love how the eye look turned out and I definitely think it’s easy to recreate! It gives me pumpkin spice, Fall makeup vibes and that’s what I crave all October long! Do you own the Jaclyn Hill palette?! Are you equally as obsessed with it?! I’m already thinking of ideas for my next few blog posts and I would love to know what you want to see next! Feel free to leave your suggestions, I always respond to comments and would love to talk to you! I hope you had a great Sunday and enjoy the week ahead, thanks for reading!

Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette! Review and Swatches!

I have been a subscriber of Jaclyn Hill's YouTube channel since I was in college! Although she faces a lot of criticism and is subject to various negative judgements, I still believe she is one of the best beauty influencers out there! I've supported her through her collabs with Becca, purchasing Champagne Pop and then her limited edition Champagne Pop palette and eyeshadow last year. I watch her every day on Snapchat and knew how much work she was putting into this project with Morphe Cosmetics over the last two years, but I didn't want to buy the palette on the release date. I don't know if I was just hesitant, or uncertain of the true quality behind the product, but I wanted to wait to watch and read more reviews before buying it. I also have a lot of eyeshadow palettes in my collection that I'm desperately trying to get rid of, so I knew this wasn't something I "needed" or couldn't live without. After watching a lot of positive reviews and seeing some beautiful live swatches, I did decide to buy it whenever I saw it was going to be restocked! I luckily got ahold of it before it sold out, again! Jaclyn did update her subscribers and let everyone know that Morphe will continue restocking this palette until everyone who wants one, has one. I'm kind of over the whole "limited edition" craze with makeup brands these days, but I do like that they're at least willing to restock until everyone can own one!

To begin this review, I wanted to let everyone know how to purchase this palette. Morphe Cosmetics is only available online at morphebrushes or at their only retail store location in Burbank, CA! The palette retails for $38.00 and comes with 35 eyeshadows (such a steal!) They are pressed shadows that come in matte, shimmer, satin, foil, and glitter formulas! It has been said that the Jaclyn Hill palette shadows are higher quality than those found in regular Morphe palettes and I can definitely agree with that. I do own a couple of the regular, permanent Morphe palettes and they are awesome for the price and I do use them a lot, but some of the shadows can be hit or miss. Right off the bat, just from touching these shadows, I can instantly tell a difference in how much more smooth and buttery their texture is. I love the variety in colors as well. I know people are so over warm toned eyeshadow palettes, but Jaclyn did a really great job incorporating some neutral, cool-toned and bright shades. I also think that you can easily create a super natural, every day look, but also have the versatility to do something more bold and fun for special occasions! I love that when I look at this palette, I immediately feel inspired to create. I think that too often I get into a rut with my makeup and just buy the same products over and over because they work for me and apply them in the same ways, not incorporating any new techniques. I really think this palette is going to help me get out of my makeup comfort zone and enjoy the process while doing so! I want to do a day-to-night makeup look using this palette, so please leave me a comment below if you would like to see something like that!

Now it is time for the fun part, SWATCHES! Does anyone else get super excited to see real, unedited swatches on just normal girl arms 😂 Like I'm not that good at making the shadows look symmetrical and even, so I feel like my swatches are raw and real haha they show the true quality of the shades and give a realistic expectation of the formula, which I think is more helpful and impressive in the end! Let's just go row-by-row starting from the top! Then I will tell you my absolute favorite shades from the palette and which ones I find a tad bit lackluster.

Row One

Row Two (my favorite)

Row Three

Row Four

Row Five

Row One is such a beautiful, natural array of colors that I imagine would work as perfect "every-day" shades. I am IN LOVE with the colors, "Faint" and "Sissy" and I was super impressed with the matte shades as well. I know I'll be using "Silk Creme" as a transition shade for many of my makeup looks! Row Two is my absolute favorite because it looks like a warm sunset and I love those orange-bronze tones on my eyes! "Queen" is such an attention-grabbing, metallic gold and I can see myself using this every day all over the lid. I also love the mattes in this row as well, they all swatched so smooth and were very evenly pigmented. Row Three is comprised of warm, cranberry-red colors. I can see myself hitting pan on each one of these shadows in the Fall, whenever I want those sultry, burgundy toned eye looks. Row Four starts to incorporate color with "Royalty" and "Twerk." Although I'm not obsessed with wearing bright colors on a daily basis, I do love adding pops of color on my lower lash line and these rich jewel tones will be perfect for that! Unfortunately, I did find that the shade "Mocha" was a bit chalky and I had a hard time building up the swatch to appear more smooth. Row Five is probably my least favorite, not because the shadows are bad, but because I don't think I'll personally get a lot of use out of the more green shades. I can see myself playing around with "Diva" and "Enchanted," but I don't think the bright turquoise colors are something that would flatter my eye color or match my personal style. Who knows though, I may end up absolutely loving them once I play around more with the palette!

My final thoughts are that this is actually a really good eyeshadow palette and I'm pretty shocked at how affordable it is for how many shadows are in it. You're getting 35 high quality shadows for $38…that's a steal! You can also use the coupon code "JACATTACK" for an extra 10% off! It actually makes me a bit frustrated with more expensive brands like Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford, because their eyeshadows are not as good and cost three times more for less product! The actual packaging of this product is pretty cheap, I'm not going to sugar coat it. It's cardboard and I can already tell that it's going to get makeup smudges all over it because it's white, but I care more about what's in it! If it's a high quality product in low quality packaging, that was super affordable…I can easily overlook that. It's more angering when it's the other way around! If you love Jaclyn Hill and you weren't sure if this was actually worth the hype, I can honestly tell you that it is. If you don't know who the heck Jaclyn Hill is, but you are interested in the palette, then I would still say you should buy it! There are a ton of YouTube tutorials and blog posts out there on the various ways you can create natural and glamorous eyeshadow looks using this one product! I'm super happy that I was able to get my hands on this palette and I really would like to do an "Everyday Makeup Look" or "Day-To-Night Eyeshadow Tutorial" using this, so let me know if you would be interested in seeing those! Have you tried out this palette yet? What are your thoughts? Leave me a comment below, I love talking with you guys about makeup! Thank you so much for reading and I hope you all have a great week!

Review and Swatches of Becca X Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection – Face and Eyeshadow Palette!

The limited-edition Becca X Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection was highly anticipated by all! Once I found out the collection was being released online on May 26, I set my alarm for 12pm and ordered immediately! Acting like a crazy woman paid off because this entire collection sold out within the first hour! If you don’t already know about Jaclyn Hill, she’s a very popular beauty YouTuber and is one of my favorite girls to watch! She’s extremely knowledgeable about products, genuine in her approach, artistically talented and just absolutely beautiful! I highly recommend you subscribe to her channel! I already own a full-size Becca Champagne Pop highlighter (and love it), so I knew I wanted to purchase the limited-edition Face Palette and Eyeshadow Palette to add to my collection! If you didn’t get your hands on the products you wanted from this limited-edition set, have no fear! The full collection will be available in Sephora stores for purchase on June 16th!

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection, Champagne Collection Face Palette, $52 ($132 value)

The Face Palette has two shades of highlighter and 3 shades of blush to illuminate your entire face look! The formula of the highlights are extremely pigmented and can be layered to create an intense glowing effect. They are both extremely long-lasting as well! The original Champagne Pop is a very peachy-toned, champagne colored highlight, while the new Prosecco Pop is a light gold, warm-toned shimmer. Both are absolutist beautiful and will be a must have for the summer months! The blush shades are Rosé Spritz, Amaretto and Pamplemousse. My current favorite way to wear these shades is to take Pamplemousse on my cheeks and Rosé Spritz right on the apples. I find that because Rosé Spritz is a shimmery blush, it really looks beautiful dusted on the front of whatever blush color you’re wearing to bring out that all over face glow, without emphasizing pores, as some shimmery blushes tend to do when applied all over the cheek area. These blushes are very sheer in formula and look beautiful layered on top of each other. They aren’t the longest lasting blushes I own, but I would consider them to last about 5 hours until fading, which isn’t terrible! I also think the shades are going to look really beautiful on every skin-tone, which is awesome that Becca and Jaclyn Hill took that into consideration when choosing these colors!

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection, Champagne Collection Eyeshadow Palette, $40.

The Eye Palette includes the shades Chardonnay, Champagne Toast, Cordial, Cognac and Bordeaux! This palette of both shimmer and matte shades is very versatile, making it wearable for daytime and nighttime looks! To be completely honest, these are not the best quality of eyeshadows I own. Yes, they are pigmented and blend out beautifully on the eye, but I noticed they fade pretty quickly even with a primer. My favorite color is Champagne Toast because it’s a beautiful warm bronze shade (my favorite) and it was unfortunately the most disappointing shadow in this palette. It faded from my eyes within the first couple hours and by the end of the day had completely disappeared. The matte shades are longer lasting in pigmentation and didn’t fade as terribly on my eyes. I am going to keep using this palette and try to find ways to make it work because the colors are so beautiful, but I definitely would recommend other eyeshadow palettes before this one.

If you only want to buy one item from this collection, I would highly recommend the Face Palette. It’s highly pigmented with beautiful shades selected for any skin tone. I think you will really love how this product layers on your skin, making it versatile enough to compliment many makeup looks. This Face Palette will be the perfect traveling companion for summer beach trips when you want your makeup to be pretty and glowy, without having to pack multiple products! Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend the Eyeshadow Palette because it just fades so bad! The sheer pigmentation of these shadows just doesn’t work for me. Let me know if you have a primer or special secret to applying these because I truly do want to make them work! Thank you so much for reading this post, leave me a comment below if you have this collection and what your thoughts are on these products!
